Girls softball played Whittier High School in a non Bay League game on Saturday. The Mustangs won in a close game with the final score being 5-4. The player of the game was senior shortstop Brittany Werre with a home run and a run that won the game.

“Brittany had a fantastic game and really contributed to the spirit on the field,” senior outfielder Samantha Matson said.

Costa scored three runs to Whittier’s one run in the first inning. Then Costa scored one run in the fifth and Whittier scored two. In the seventh inning both teams scored a run, but Costa came out on top, winning 5-4.

“It was a close game but we had more hits and an all around better game,” sophomore catcher Jamie Hoffman said.

Costa has an overall record of 17-7 and a Bay League record of 5-1. They play Peninsula at home on Wednesday.
