Swim wins against South Torrance

The Mira Costa boys and girls swimming teams both won against South Torrance at home on Tuesday. Top performers included junior Andrew White and senior Sawyer Coye, as well as junior Mona Stone and sophomore Alex Crisera.

White competed in the 100 meter backstroke and freestyle placing first in both with respective times of 53.92 and 48.70. He believed he performed well during his fourth meet of the season.

“I was very satisfied with my performance and felt that my training paid off,” White said. “The teams performed well and we came away with the win.”

Stone competed in the 50 meter and 100 meter freestyles placing second with a time of 26.81 and first with a time of 57.74, respectively. According to Stone, she performed well.

“I performed up to my standards today,” Stone said. “The team swam well and we managed to come away with a well-earned win.”

Mira Costa’s boys team, now 4-2 overall and girls team at 3-3, will next face Palos Verdes at Palos Verdes on April 20. According to junior Henry Anthony, the Mustangs are looking forward to the upcoming match.

“Coming off this solid performance, we are looking forward to the next match because we know we are capable of performing at our highest standards,” Anthony said. “We are working out every day and grinding to be ready for CIF.”
