The Mira Costa boys soccer team fell to Peninsula high school 3-1 on Friday, Jan. 26.  Although an upset, junior midfielder Josh Guadiano had a great performance with a goal in the first half.

Senior forward Robert Cook assisted Guadiano’s goal in the first half putting the Mustangs up, 1-1 with Peninsula in the first half.  Unfortunately, Peninsula came out firing in the second half scoring two goals and leaving the Mustangs with a 3-1 loss.

“Our weakness is that a lot of people come from different teams which comes with different play styles,” junior defender Dilon Swartzlander said. “Some players struggled at first to conform to the play style that Costa soccer plays.”

The Mustangs are currently 10-4-2 overall and are 4-2 in Bay League.  In their next match, the Mustangs will play Palos Verdes high school on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at home.

“Some of our strengths is our will to win,” Swartzlander said. “Every single person on the field in every game plays their heart out to win.”
