The Mira Costa High School Advanced Dance Class performed their annual Winter Dance concert, “Sleigh Belles”, on Dec. 5 in the Mira Costa auditorium.

The beginning, intermediate and advanced classes performed at the concert.

“The girls did extremely well, especially the way they improved throughout the week before the show,” dance teacher Yvonne Johnson said. “I feel that they learned about time management as well as being well rehearsed and properly prepared.”

The show started of with the song, “Fever” by Peggy Lee. It was choreographed by junior Dana Sheckter, and performed by Sheckter, sophomores Larkin Dickson and Kate Gottman , and junior Madi Kotero.

“I felt that they had really practiced their dances because of how well they performed,” sophomore Declan Wright said. “Every dance had a variety from the other and each gave off a really good vibe and I enjoyed watching all the dances.”

Sophomore Maura McCabe choreographed and performed the only solo dance. She danced to the song “Gonna Get Over You” by Sara Bareilles, as the third act of the night.

“Doing my solo was definitely very nerve wracking, but I was really excited because I was able to make the dance entirely my own,” McCabe said.
