The Pacific Coast Highway is known for featuring exotic restaurants including its new edition, Jus’ Poke.
Unlike the traditional burger and hotdog joints, Jus’ Poke offers only Hawaiian styled bowls and nothing more. Poke is the Hawaiian word for ‘section’ and their food is sections of raw meat in a salad. The menu includes poke as well as drinks and a small dessert menu.
The style of the restaurant resembles the popular chain restaurant, “Island’s”: it features cartoon fish and bamboo backgrounds. The ambiance is extremely laid-back and the customer service is good quality.
Unlike other restaurants, Jus’ Poke is extremely authentic, offering quality fish that tastes like poke that is served in Hawaii. The restaurant offers a new genre of food to the beach communities as it is not common to have Hawaiian styled meals.
Jus’ Poke offers a chance to try a less common style of food, making the restaurant appealing to all food-lovers and customers who love to try something new.
The portion size that Jus’ Poke offers is extremely generous; offering two scoops of rice and a large bowl of poke. The cost of the poke bowls is cheap; however, the food is great.
Jus’ Poke’s popular bowl is the original bowl that comes with tomatoes, green onions and ogo (seaweed). This combination is extremely refreshing and tasteful.
Even though the menu is a bit too small, the food is great quality with only the best raw fish and fresh greens.
Although their dessert menu is extremely limited, their green tea ice cream is fresh and flavorful. It is a great aspect to end any meal. They also offer a coconut-pineapple ice cream that isn’t as good as green tea but still packed with amazing flavor.
Although the food is up to par, the parking is horrendous because there are only eight parking spots in the small lot. There is a better chance of getting a spot on the street rather than in the actual parking lot.
Another negative factor is that the location is somewhat hard to spot on the road. Because of the small lot, it is hard to find the entrance into the parking spots.
Even though the parking isn’t the best, the food is worth it. If If seafood and raw greens is a must, Jus’ Poke is the place to try exquisite foods that is accessible in the beach community.
Jus’ Poke is located on 501 North Pacific Coast Highway and is priced between 11 and 30 dollars for a poke bowl.
