Mira Costa’s girls volleyball team finished third place in the Dave Mohs Tournament at Edison High School on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

The Mustangs defeated Edison 2-0, James Logan 3-1, and San Clemente 2-0 on Aug. 31 in pool play. On Sept. 1 they beat Bingham and Great Oak 2-1, but lost to Murrieta 0-2 giving the Mustangs a third place finish. The top players were Memphis Glasgow, Rochelle Scott, and Malea Stanton.

“I think the team played incredible this weekend,” said junior middle blocker Katie Colvin. “After the loss against Marymount [on August 21] we have all been working really hard during practices to get better, and it’s really prevalent that it payed off.”

Their record is 6-4. Their next opponent is La Costa Canyon on September 6 at La Costa Canyon High School. Costa is looking to improve on keeping their energy up.

“[We need to] get better at is when the other team gets on a run that we don’t let our energy down and stop playing our best,” said Colvin. “We need to push through and keep our energy high and not negative”.
