Football defeats Redondo 21-14

The Mustangs battled cross town rival Redondo Union in an intense homecoming matchup in a must-win game to clinch a CIF playoff berth. Costa took home their third win of this season this past Friday, beating the Seahawks 21-14 thanks to a fourth quarter game winning touchdown by running-back Maddie Miller. The Sea Hawks put up a tough battle keeping the Mustangs under control for most of the game but Nico De La Cruz and the Costa offense drove the ball down field to get the job done.

The Mustangs offense played a strong game with every part of the offense doing their job however, senior wide receiver Charlie O’Connor led the way with a huge 3rd quarter touchdown making a catch off an impressive double pass play from fellow senior wide receiver Reese Leonard.

“The ‘stangs are on a roll.” Senior Wide receiver Charlie O’Connor said. “ Coming off of a three game win streak feels great after starting the season off slow. The team is looking a lot stronger and are ready for the playoffs.

This Friday, the Mustangs have a 3 hour bus ride ahead of them to play Yucaipa High School in the first round of the CIF playoffs.
