Mira Costa’s hockey team defeated Manhattan Beach 5-1 in a home game on Monday. Top performances from junior Bryce Tournat lifted the Mustangs over Manhattan Beach.

Tournat had three goals in which all came in key points in the game, boosting the team in their win. According to Tournat, the offensive ability from some of the forwards was a major contribution in creating second chance opportunities for goals.

“I think the team played great today,” Tournat said. “We had very strong goaltending which allowed us to have more offensive opportunities, our forwards kept it in the zone well and got a lot of shots creating rebounds, thanks to my teammates shots I was able to get their rebounds and put in three goals.”

The Mustangs now 8-2 overall, will play their next game next Thursday in the finals of playoffs against Beverly Hills High School at home. Tournat says they will have numerous team meetings in order to work out the kinks in their game to be most prepared for the championship game.

“We will treat this game just like any other,” Tournat said. “It will definitely be a challenging game, but I think if we play like we usually do we will come out on top.”
