Usher’s performance at Super Bowl LVIII’s halftime solidified his position as a legendary figure within the music industry. Seamlessly blending his classic hits with impeccable production, he effortlessly guided the audience on a nostalgic journey through the highlights of his illustrious career.

From his iconic hits of the 2000s to his latest chart-toppers, Usher captivated viewers with his unparalleled talent, additional performers, visual effects, and other performative elements. The spectacle featured an ensemble of dancers and acrobats, a marching band, skillful roller skaters, captivating pole dancers, and an array of special guests including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Lil Jon, will.i.am, Jermaine Dupri, and H.E.R..

Usher’s career is a testament to unparalleled success, marked by eight Grammy Awards, a plethora of chart-topping singles, and stadiums reverberating with the resounding cheers of devoted fans. Having served as a resident performer in Las Vegas for two years leading up to the performance, Usher was a natural fit for the stage, seeking to infuse his show with the dynamic spirit of a city he had come to know intimately.

However, his 2024 performance wasn’t his first step onto the iconic halftime stage. He previously joined forces with Beyoncé, will.i.am and The Black Eyed Peas during the Super Bowl XXXV halftime show in 2011, leaving an indelible mark on pop culture history. But his solo return in 2024 showcased his ability to craft a show that resonated with fans both old and new.

Despite encountering minor microphone difficulties initially, Usher launched his performance with flair, commanding attention as he made a regal entrance on a throne to the classic “Caught Up.” Adorned in a striking monochrome white Dolce & Gabbana overcoat embellished with Las Vegas-inspired accents and glistening crystals, complemented by a pleated tuxedo and a beaded jeweled vest, he exuded an aura of unmatched elegance.

Soon after, Alicia Keys joined him, commanding the stage in a striking red corseted catsuit and cape adorned with dazzling rhinestones and sequins for her soulful rendition of “If I Ain’t Got You,” seamlessly transitioning into the nostalgic hit “My Boo.”

Usher paid homage to musical legends with two remarkable tributes, wearing a single glove as a nod to Michael Jackson and leaving an empty drumkit in honor of his late drummer, Aaron Spears, adding a sense of depth and emotion to the performance.

For his second look, Usher donned a striking custom blue and black Off-White suit adorned with an impressive 394,000 crystals, featuring a sleek leather biker jacket and trousers, complemented by a cozy knit turtleneck and lurex undershirt. Adding to the spectacle, Usher made a dramatic entrance onto the stage accompanied by 15 backup dancers, unveiling his latest venture—a collaboration with Riedell Skates and Liberty Ross, co-founder and creative director of Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace. The collaboration resulted in the creation of leather and suede skating boots with stylish blue accents.

Ludacris, H.E.R., Lil Jon, and will.i.am were among the esteemed musicians who shared the stage with Usher, each infusing their unique style and energy into the performance, creating an unforgettable musical experience. Despite funding the entire production himself, Usher’s collaborative spirit shone through, exemplifying the camaraderie and mutual respect within the music industry. Their collective talent left the audience in awe, showcasing the power of collaboration and unity in the music industry.

As the final notes of the performance echoed through the stadium, Usher stood at the center of the stage, basking in the thunderous applause and adoration of the crowd. Proudly representing his hometown of Atlanta, he paid homage to his roots. Usher’s unforgettable performance at Super Bowl LVIII epitomized the pinnacle of musical excellence, etching his name into halftime show history.
