Senior members of the National Charity League’s Manhattan-Hermosa chapter painted storm drains along the Manhattan Beach strand over the summer as part of their senior project. The miniature paintings feature various ocean life and the county of Los Angeles’ “No Dumping” logo. Costa’s administration hired English teacher Taylor DiBernardo from Manhattan Beach Middle School to teach English, starting at the beginning of this school year. A committee of Costa teachers and administrators selected DiBernardo for the position after interviewing a pool of candidates. The Costa administrative staff released an updated discipline matrix and attendance policy to be used by staff members in the 2019-20 school year when making decisons about disciplinary action for students. The revised matrix includes the steps for teachers and staff members to take when dealing with a variety of offenses, including tardies, ethics violations and drug use.
