The Mira Costa boys volleyball team fell short of expectations this past weekend while competing in the Best of the West Tournament in Poway on March 9 and 10. The Mustangs tied for fifth place.
Costa beat Long Beach Poly, Dos Pueblos, and then lost to Westview. Costa then defeated Huntington Beach but after losing against local Bay League rival Loyola High School, Costa ended up tieing with Westlake High School for fifth place. Senior Brooks Varni was elected MVP of the Costa team by the tournament directors.
The boys’ next game will take place on Tuesday, March 13 at Orange Lutheran High School.
