Track and field gets revenge versus Peninsula in dual meet at home

The Mira Costa track and field squads were beaten by Peninsula in a meet last season but managed to redeem themselves against the Panthers on April 12 in the Mustangs’ dual meet at home versus Peninsula and Leuzinger. The boys won with a score of 88-48 and the girls won 92-46.

Senior Dan Golubovic placed first in the pole vault and high jump with measures of 14-feet and 6-inches and 6-feet and 4-inches respectively. Golubovic also placed second in the long jump with a length of 20-feet and 10-inches and third in the triple jump with 42-feet and 8-inches. Junior Raphael Lawson-Gale won the triple jump with a length of 43-feet and 10.5-inches. Senior Adam Perez won the mile with a time of 4:29 and sophomore Carter Anderson won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.3 seconds. Sophomore Brandon Mills placed first in the discus with a throw of 132.10 feet. Senior Kyle Hubbard, who has been a consistent winner for Costa, won both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles with times of 14.2 and 41.85 respectively.

Senior Kelli Sugimoto won the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:24 while senior Ashley Dotson won both the 200 and 100-meter dash with times of 25.3 and 12.3 seconds respectively. Senior Jenna Tong won the mile with a time of 5:15 and senior Acacia Moore won the 110 and 300 hurdles with times of 15.8 and 48.05 respectively. Chelsea Tatum placed first in the discus with 93-feet and 5-inches while placing second in shot put with a throw of 30-feet and 8-inches.

Costa will compete in the California Relays on April 14.
