Girls volleyball beats Palos Verdes in three-game sweep

Mira Costa girls volleyball played against Palos Verdes High School at home on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Costa beat Palos Verdes in a three-game sweep.

Costa took control of the first game early in the match with the help of senior Lexi Millington, who led the defense with 11 digs, along with junior Brooke Feld who had 9 digs. Costa defeated Palos Verdes in the first game with a score of 25-10.

“We really played as a team and started working with each other,” junior Sammy Furlan said. “We had great communication on the court throughout the game.”

The Mustangs quickly dominated with offensive leaders, senior Grayce Campbell who had 7 kills and senior Corie Bain who had 33 assists. This helped Costa take the second game 25-13. Costa continued to build up the momentum and eventually shut out the Sea Kings 25-17 in the last game.

“It was a good win for us,” Furlan said. “Our recent tournament brought up our confidence level which was crucial for this match.”

The team will play their next game against West Torrance High School on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at home. Costa’s overall record is now 14-8 as they continue through their season.
