The Mira Costa girls varsity basketball team had their second preseason game on Nov. 27 against Keppel, in the second day of the tournament. The girls could not hold the lead in the end and lost 51-39.

Sophomore Keilani Ikehara led the team with a total of eleven points during the game. The Mustangs kept the score close, ending the first quarter 14-8, with Keppel just barely ahead. Sophomore Haley Tojo was also a top scorer with seven points.

“I feel that we’ve been doing really well considering that we have been playing some really good teams,” Ikehara said. “I am really excited for this season and we hope to get into CIF playoffs.”

The girls’ next game will be on Nov. 28 against South Torrance High School.
