Mustang water polo impresses in home opener

The Mira Costa Mustangs looked to improve on last year’s run to the CIF finals in their first game against Santa Barbara, and they didn’t disappoint the home crowd.

The Mustangs started out slowly; however, they shook off the rust by finishing strong in their first match of the season and winning 10-6 against Santa Barbara.

“We had a good first game of the season; we were pretty rusty and made some mistakes, but that’s what’s to be expected this early in the season. Nothing a couple more matches won’t fix,” said Coach Jon Reichardt.

Senior Jake Miller led the way for the Mustangs with 4 of the 10 goals and senior Dana Tuttle blocked well to help the victorious Mustangs.

The Mustangs (1-0) look forward to another victory on Tuesday, September 14, versus a tough Agoura team at home.
