The Mira Costa girls softball team faced rival Redondo Union High school on May 7. The Mustangs lost 5-3 in the away conference game. The girls now have a 7-2 Bay League record.

Senior Nikki Gialketsis went 3-for-3 with one run batted in. Redondo scored three runs due to Costa errors during the third inning. Sophomore Fa Leilua hit a home run and went 1-for-4 with two runs batted in.

“It was a disappointing game, because I know our defense could have prevented Redondo from scoring,” Leilua said. “In the end it wasn’t our game and we will be back stronger on Thursday.”

The girls next play away at Palos Verdes High School on May 9.
