In a match against Mira Costa’s rivals, Redondo Union High School, the girls golf team continued to dominate this year’s season, maintaining its undefeated record of 9-0.

The team continued its winning streak on Tuesday at the Alondra Country Club, defeating Redondo Union, 192-221.

“Today was a very successful match,” sophomore Marni Murez said. “Everyone on the team played especially well, and it felt good to get a solid win for our seniors because it was their last away match of their high school career.”

All of the girls shot relatively low scores, led by senior Megan Kim with a score of 34. Murez and freshman Ashley Kim both shot two above par, with a score of 36, while seniors Jenny Johnson, Mika Pascual and sophomore Danielle Richman shot a 41 in the Mustangs’ win.

“We all shot pretty well today, but I feel that we could have performed just a little bit better,” Murez said. “Overall, it was a great overall performance by the team, and we came out with another good win.”

On the fourth hole, Megan Kim sunk a 40-foot putt for her first of two birdies of the day.

“I just tried to get the ball close to the hole so I could tap it in for a par, but it carried and went right in.” Megan Kim said. “It was my last away match in my high school career, and I am happy to end it on a great note with a win over Redondo.”

Richman also had two birdies in the round, which both began with good approach shots.

“I felt really great when I hit both of my shots,” Richman said. “I was definitely under pressure, but they were strong, and I knew they were going to be close from the moment I hit the ball.”

The girls played another league match against Redondo Union High School on Thursday at Chester Washington golf course. However, results were unavailable due to time of publication.
