Costa’s Associated Student Body is holding the third-annual Winter Formal “Turn Down for Yacht” on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at Marina Del Rey on a yacht.

On the yacht, which can hold up to 550 people, students will have access to an open dance floor and an outside balcony. In previous years, the yacht has reached maximum capacity.

“Students can dance on the yacht the whole time,” Activities Director Lisa Claypoole said. “They can take a break to eat or go onto the top deck when they get tired to look out at the stars. They can also hangout on the bottom deck and chat with friends.”

ASB will provide students with an Italian buffet and DJ at the dance.

“I’m really excited to see what type of songs the DJ will be playing,” junior Kristen Spence said. “I’ve also heard that the food is pretty good, so I’m looking forward for that.”

ASB began selling tickets for the event on Jan. 13. With an ASB sticker, tickets cost $44 for a single and $84 for a couple. Those without ASB stickers have to pay an additional $4 per person.

“Winter Formal this year is on the same boat as last year because it’s a fun, popular and unique place to have a dance,” ASB member Mandy McKeegan said. “We are all really looking forward to having an enjoyable night.”
