Even if this original plot about saving the world’s best art from the Nazis wasn’t as intriguing as it is, the phenomenal acting jobs by stars Matt Damon and George Clooney are what make “The Monuments Men” such an electrifying and sensational film.

“The Monuments Men” plays with the viewers emotions by making a connection to real history and the tragedies that occurred. This film exemplifies how this time period was so tragic yet also ties in a fun and adventurous theme to it.

This film completely meets its actor’s expectations through clear, believable acting that does not seem forced or fake. With the cast that it has, including Clooney, Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett and many more renowned actors, the film exceeds its potential.

George Clooney, who stars, directs, and wrote this story does an exceptional job throughout the film by keeping the viewer entertained and intrigued through suspense, comedy, and action. Frank Stokes (Clooney), is the leader of the mission to save all the stolen art and return it to its rightful owners.

Damon uses his smaller role in this film to stand out when he has an opportunity to do so. He may not be the star of the film, but his great acting made this film much more enjoyable. James Granger (Matt Damon), is second in command on the mission but doesn’t immediately go with the team to Germany. Eventually however, he finds himself there to help be in charge of the search.

Obviously, because it is pertaining to the Holocaust and World War II, the movie has a very serious mood. Even with that, the film is able to be very enjoyable through its contrast between seriousness and thrilling excitement.

At times, the film is very sad and even hard to watch. The sickness, injuries, and death throughout the film add to the almost sickening mood of WWII. These cringing emotions make the viewer have to keep watching in order to find out the answers to this suspenseful film.

Clooney, who wrote the film, does a phenomenal job again with by adding in witty remarks that make the audience laugh and keeps them intrigued. Although there are jokes, the film still is able to keep a balance with the seriousness of this time period.

“The Monuments Men” had high expectations because of the stars that take part in it, and the film exceeded all of them.
