Mira Costa’s Drama Department Took Top Honors Sunday for Best Musical at The Jerry Herman Awards at the Pantages Theater for their musical “Peter Pan.”
A total of thirty two Southern California schools competed, but Costa took home four awards, including Best Musical, Best Ensemble/Chorus, Best Musical Direction, and Best Lighting Design. Mira Costa was also nominated for Best Technical Crew, Best Costume Design, and Best Orchestra and Junior Julia McDermott was one of three female Best Actress finalists out of 32 actresses.
Junior Julia McDermott said, “I was extremely proud of our department and winning these awards showed us how all of our hard work paid off, making it a great way to end the year.”
