After coming off a loss against Trabuco Hills, Costa failed to back up its defense with offensive production, and fell decisively to West Torrance 35-14.

Early into the second quarter, Mira Costa was down 14-0, and the offense was failing to execute in the red zone. With the score at 21-0 and the hope was diminishing by the minute, the presence of Tre Searcy at running back was needed greatly. Late in the game, the Mustangs gained momentum, however, the late game surge was met and quickly thwarted by penalties and the West High defense.

“When we got down to the goal line we got a lot of penalties and we just can’t play that way and not expect the other team to beat you,” Arrasmith said. “There are no freebies in this game, when you get an opportunity you have to capitalize, and we just didn’t do that tonight.”
