Lights, camera, action.

This summer, senior Eden Marquis lived her dream as a star in a new reality television show “America’s IT Girl”. The goal of “America’s IT Girl” is to bring awareness of female empowerment, fitness and health, and an opportunity to brand themselves as someone. The show paired seventy-eight models with fashion design students to compete in categories to demonstrate that they had the above qualities.

“I found out about the show when it came out and I was so thrilled because it was such a great way for all of our friends to really see Eden in a new light,” senior Sheila Ghafouri said.

Eden received the news of acceptance six months ago. She began filming two months later until the end of August for the finale. Filming took place at the W Hotel, Bradbury Estates and American Martyrs Church.

“I filmed for two weeks straight, talking about my involvement in my community, my purpose in the show, and what I’m interested in doing after I am done filming,” Marquis said.

According to Marquis, the best part about the show was being able to model for top designers like Latricia Price and Andre Soriano.

“This opportunity changed my whole perspective of life,” Marquis said. “Every person I meet now has a purpose in my life.”

The show ended with a three day pageant from August 27 to 29. Marquis was a finalist, however, won runner up teen. The “Americas IT Girl” will air on WeTV this fall as a six episode series.

“Being able to have a chance to live my dream is such a privilege to have,” Marquis said. “I’ve never been so happy in my entire life, I am a very lucky girl.”
