Video – Costa boys soccer looks ahead to Bay League after 2-0 win over Santa Monica

With the beginning of regular season nearing, the Mira Costa High School boys’ soccer game against Santa Monica High School on Friday, Jan. 9, marked the final stage of preparation before the real deal. After losing two straight preseason games, the boys rebounded quickly, and are now entering regular season on a high note.

After both teams got off to a bit of a slow start, Costa began to control the ball with precision late in the first half, putting in a goal at 40:00 to give them a 1-0 lead. Santa Monica did all they could, but were still unable to retain quality possession time and put shots on goal.

The second half did not see much change from the end of the first, as the Mustangs offense proved to be too much for Santa Monica to suppress. Senior forward Ricky Angiolini scored for Costa with under seven minutes left in the last half, bumping Costa to a 2-0 lead. Costa continued playing hard until the clock expired, claiming a 2-0 victory and newfound optimism heading into Bay League.
