The two of us, we just have chemistry. Really, we met in summer school chemistry the summer going into our sophomore year. Of course, we were both late on the first day and completely petrified at the thought of being the one kid without a lab partner.

But on that particular day, we got lucky and sat next to each other at the stragglers’ table in the back of the class. What we didn’t know then was that the ongoing six weeks of learning the minimal amount of chemistry possible to graduate would lead us into three years of friendship within the domain of the infamous La Vista room.

We walked into La Vista the first day of sophomore year full of nerves because when you’re 15 and just above the five-foot mark, you’re a tad intimidated by seniors who will fight to the death over a dirty couch that you accidentally sat on without permission. La Vista has changed a lot since that first day, and we are extremely proud to have been a part of such an amazing organization. Sadly, we were forced to part with our prized and disgusting couches, but it’s all good because we have really cool swivel chairs and a ton of Macs (thank you, PTSA). La Vista has taught us about friendship, working as a team, journalistic integrity, and a variety of Latin dance routines choreographed at 12 a.m. on production night.

Although our overall experience at La Vista has been full of laughs and great memories, we have certainly had our fair share of 11 p.m. struggles of trying to get that last picture on the page that, as it turns out, was never actually taken. But it is during those late night meltdowns when the true LV love comes through and we remember why we dedicate so much time to produce such quality journalism. We can honestly say that La Vista has had a huge influence on who we are today and who we aspire to become, so thanks LV; it’s been real.
