Singer songwriter Miley Cyrus left audiences in shock after the recent 2015 VMA’s, After she released her new album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. Her reckless new attitude and immaturity is exhibited throughout her whole album and fans with high hopes for Cyrus were sadly disappointed.

After three years in production the album was finally released on August 30, 2015 by her own record label Smiley Miley. At the end of the VMA’s she released this new album in a surprise finale to the first song on Dead Petz called Dooo It!.

Cyrus’s work is strongly influenced by the death of her dog, hence the name of the album. Songs like The Floyd Song and My Darling exhibit strong emotion as she sings. She does the same when referencing her dead blowfish in the song Pablow the Blowfish. This makes it hard to take her seriously and patterns of this start to become ridiculous.

Furthermore, drugs and alcohol play a huge role in her songs throughout the whole album. Almost all of the songs have incorporated this common thread in one way or another. Cyrus mostly sings of how intoxicated she is or how she’s engaging in different types of drugs and alcohol. Cyrus, as a role model is setting a bad example to younger audiences.

In Dead Petz Cyrus newly introduced different styles of music she had never produced before such as space and psychedelic pop. Also she employed a new producer Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips band, along with many others such as Mike Will Made It, Ryder Ripps, Big Sean, and Oren Yoel. These successful producers that make the substandard album sound more professional.

Although Cyrus believes her album resembles a voice of independence and freedom with the attitude of she can do whatever she wants, it resembles immaturity and rash behavior. Even though Cyrus receives kudos for her originality, the expression of herself reaches a point where it’s hard to enjoy any song.

Cyrus throughout her album talks about how “she doesn’t care”, yet this is how people already feel about her. The songs seem to just be thrown together without much thought and appear to be half written due to its repetition and lack of lyrical diversity. Yet the few lyrics presented consist of explicit language, drug and sexual references, or complete randomness like ‘tangerines (the fruit) shooting at me’.

Just as for the music itself, the psychedelic trippy mood she was going for comes off as annoying. It starts to become obnoxious and doesn’t make sense. The uniqueness she put into the album doesn’t seem to be original just idiotic.

As if the celebrity hasn’t been bad-mouthed enough in the media, this album just gives people a more so reason to bash on her. Overall despite Cyrus’s status as a huge iconic artist and an influential idol to many, this album was not her best. This was a disappointment to many to see a truly gifted artist waste their talent.
