Yesterday, the Mira Costa boys water polo team squared off at home against the Peninsula Panthers and won 13-3 in its first Bay League game of the season.

The Mustangs dominated the first half, and were up 10-0 by the time the second half started, due in part to a strong performance from senior attacker Jake Tolt, who scored five goals in the first half.

“I thought that the game today was a solid showing of our talent, and it also showed that we have the potential to do well in Bay League,” Tolt said.

The Mustangs’ will be participating in the America’s Finest City Invite Tournament in San Diego this Saturday. Costa currently has an overall record of 2-1 and is undefeated in Bay League, 1-1.

“The tournament will be a good chance for everybody to play,” coach Jon Reichardt said. “We get to play five teams, some that are in our division, and it will be a good way to gauge our progress.”
