Yesterday, Mira Costa’s cross country team competed in a three mile race against Palos Verdes, Peninsula, and Redondo in its first Bay League meet of the season at Palos Verdes High School. The Costa boys took first place and the girls came in second.

Junior Caleb Llorin ranked highest among the Costa boys, placing third overall with a time of 16:54. Junior Melia Chittenden ranked highest among the Costa girls and placed first in her division with a time of 19:27.

“The meet went very well for Costa,” senior runner Ethan Williams said. “By winning the meet, we really solidified our position on top, as everyone did a great job.”

This is the Mustangs’ first official varsity meet this season. On Wednesday, they will be competing in the South Bay Cup at Columbia Park.

“I’m very excited for our next race,” Chittenden said. “As a team, we’ve been improving so much throughout the start of the season, and I can’t wait to see what more we can do!”
