Mira Costa’s boys water polo team defeated the West Torrance Warriors 18-7 yesterday at home with a top performance from freshman attacker Chris Agliozzo who scored 6 goals.

The Mustangs were only ahead by three until the second quarter when they broke out, and began leading 13-3 at half. The Mustangs then scored 5 more in the second half with goals from Agliozzo and junior attacker Mark Warneke.

“Chris did a great job today,” junior attacker Garrett Weatherly said, “He was really able to take advantage of opportunities that he had.”

The Mustangs’ next match is this Friday at 3:15 p.m. against Foothill, at Foothill High School. Costa has a record of 7-2 overall, and is 2-0 in Bay League.

“Foothill will be our greatest challenge yet,” Warneke said, “The game will give us insight about how we will do in CIF. If the team stays focused like we did last weekend, it will be a great game.”
