Mira Costa’s boys water polo team defeated its rival, Redondo Union High School, 10-5 in the third Bay League game of the season at home on Thursday.

Redondo was able to keep up in the game; however, the Mustangs never fell behind. According to senior attacker Finn Pardon, Costa came prepared to win and was able to create scoring chances with ease. Pardon was the top performer, scoring four goals.

“My teammates were able to set me up with really good chances to score,” Pardon said. “I think I was successful today because the entire team was able to spread the ball really well.”

The Mustangs will next play Dana Hills, 11-3, in a non-conference game on Saturday at 12 p.m. The Mustangs are 8-3 overall and 3-0 in Bay League. According to junior attacker Garrett Weatherly, the team is looking forward to more competition in Bay League.

“We will be making a push to be undefeated in Bay League this year,” Weatherly said. “However, we must not overlook Dana Hills on Saturday.”
