“Fear the Walking Dead”, directed by Adam Davidson, Kari Skogland, and Stefan Schwarts is a spinoff of the successful series the Walking Dead, that provides an underwhelming amount of action but an interesting insight into “the Walking Dead” world. Season one of “Fear the Walking Dead” ended on October 4th with an action packed season finale.

“Fear the Walking Dead” focuses on the beginning of the Zombie apocalypse that was glossed over during the original “Walking Dead” because the main character Rick was in a coma. This TV show displays the struggles of the main character, Travis, to protect the families of his new wife and of his ex-wife from the zombie apocalypse.

Travis has to work hard to protect his families from the changing circumstances during the breakdown of their society ranging from the undead to what was once the U.S. Military. Travis works along with Daniel (Rubén Blades), a barber who sheltered him and his family in the immediate aftermath of the outbreak.

The TV show “Fear The Walking Dead” was extremely well made and every detail was finished perfectly from a cinematographic standpoint. Both the CGI and the makeup for the walkers was well done and one of the strongest parts of the show because it added a more realistic element to it.

This series was, for the most part, well written but had moments of inactivity in some episodes leaving the viewer un engaged to the plot line. Some episodes included little or no activity but others had an extreme plot escalation which made the show unsteady and inconsistent.

“Fear the Walking Dead” is a very meaningful and interesting show for fans of the original series but it isn’t unique enough to captivate new viewers. This show is more of a lead up to the major series in the genre, which can be a confusing concept for newer viewers with no prior knoweledge of the original series.

This program gives an original and new perspective into the world of the Walking Dead but is simply a creative spinoff of “the Walking Dead”. This series isn’t very original since it is based in the same world as the original series.

The acting in the show “Fear the Walking Dead” is exceptional as the actors display their emotions and actions realistically, which gives the story a more believable feeling. The acting makes the series satisfying because the emotions they evoke are portrayed realistically enough to make the viewer feel these emotions too, connecting them with the characters.

The show “Fear the Walking Dead” was created with the intention of keeping previous fans interested instead of making new ones. This series is hard to enjoy without previous knowledge and viewership from its successful counterpart, giving it a limited audience.

“Fear the Walking Dead” is a very enjoyable show that is very well made but viewers must first see The Walking Dead to completely enjoy and understand it. This show is definitely worth while to watch and fills some holes in the storyline of the original “Walking Dead”.
