Lights. Camera. Action. It’s Cooper Roth acting on set for an upcoming TV series called Kirby Buckets.

Cooper Roth, a freshman attending Mira Costa, has a great passion for acting. Roth started acting when he was 12 years old, and has grown as an actor ever since.

“I started off slow with only about three auditions a month and then I picked it up to about three auditions a week,” Roth said.

Roth was inspired greatly by his dad, JD Roth, who is now a producer in the movie industry. JD Roth loves to act and began acting when he was a little boy. According to Roth, he now wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps.

“My dad used to tell me about how he would go to New York and there would be lines all around the building for an audition. He would be the one kid that got the part and he inspired me so much that all I could think about was acting,” Roth said.

The first part Roth ever booked was a radio commercial for Bush Gardens in Florida. After getting his first job, Roth booked two movies and a TV show in the following three months.

“Looking back, it was such a small part yet it meant so much to me because it was the first time I had ever been given a chance at acting. That commercial really gave me the confidence to go into auditions like I was the man,” Roth said.

Roth’s parents were a little unsure about him acting because of how tough the business can be, but they finally said yes to him going out for an audition and Roth has progressed ever since.

“We finally said ok, he could try it, and he has proven that not only can he handle it, but that he really loves it. Because of his passion for acting, we fully support and encourage him to continue with it,” Roth’s mother Christine said.

Roth has acted in many movies and TV shows including Cooties (2014), Super Buddies (2013), Back in the Game (2013-2014), Good Luck Charlie (2013), The Goldbergs (2014), The Road Within (2014), Table 58 (2015), True Detective (2015), and an upcoming TV series Kirby Buckets (2016).

“I cannot choose my favorite job out of all of these that I have done because I have loved them all and they are all so amazing,” Roth said.

Kirby Buckets, an upcoming Disney Channel XD TV Series, has many episodes coming out with Roth in it. In this series, he plays the role of a character named Bucky.

“I am a big character and I had so much fun doing the show because one of my best friends is the main character. It was a blast to shoot and I bet it will be a blast to watch!” Roth said.

According to Roth’s mother, sometimes actors and actresses have a situation where they come so close to a role but end up losing it because of reasons that are out of your control. Some reasons include not looking enough like the guy who’s a relative or you are too old.

“He handles this all in stride and works even harder the next time, and that is part of being a good actor. You have to take the ups with the downs,” Christine Roth said.

When Roth has an audition or shooting, he has to miss class and be on set. Roth usually misses a lot of school when on set, but as long as the shoots are short, he manages to stay balanced.

“When I’m at school, I wish I was on set but when I am on set, I feel bad because I am missing school. It’s a tradeoff,” Roth said.

Overtime, Roth started off small and has grown as an actor. Acting is his passion, and he has been so inspired that nothing will ever get in the way of him and acting.

“I love acting because of the creative vibe and the teamwork behind it,” Roth said. “I have learned so many things. In acting, everyone works together to figure out how to how to project a person’s image on the screen. It’s amazing to be a part of something that comes together so quick yet is so intricate and inspiring to watch.”
