“The Vampire Diaries,” based on the book by L.J. Smith, and written by Julie Plec and Caroline Dries, is filled with action, adventure, violence, romance, and thrilling music to complement it all.

The first episode of season seven in “The Vampire Diaries” is well-thought, improved from previous seasons, includes great acting, and has an extremely complex plot.

“The Vampire Diaries” season seven starts off with a violent, ruthless vampire named Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and sympathetic, human, Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) grieving the losses of the loves of their life, Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jo (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe), in Amsterdam while an independent witch named Bonnie (Kat Graham) supervises them.

Damon’s vampire brother Stefan (Paul Wesley), deals with his mother and her new family of Heretics, or witch-vampires, that she brought into Mystic Falls. A new romance also sparks between Stefan and vampire Caroline Forbes (Candice King).

This season is definitely the most interesting yet with the exciting adventure, and new supernatural creatures. The Heretics bring in a captivating new form of magic that creates exciting chaos throughout Mystic Falls. Also, the thrilling action intensifies the episode even more.

Although this season has less romance than the other seasons, it is well-balanced with new and important characters. Dries introduces these characters as if they have been on the show since the beginning, such as the friendships established between the heretics.

In addition to the introduction of new characters, the acting is impressive. The director of this episode and the actors make the acting look natural and realistic. The acting is reasonable and authentic and the characters role’s are exceptionally thorough.

In “The Vampire Diaries,” the special effects of blood and violence that bring it all together are well-thought and realistic. While some shows might use supernatural powers to glorify violence such as killing people, they are often used in this show to help people, such as when Caroline feeds her blood to humans to heal them.

The delightful and electrifying plot of the first episode of season seven creates an exhilarating and complex storyline that makes the show easy to follow. Dries wrote several different scenes, which is helpful to separate the action and romance within this episode.

This season is directed towards more teenagers because the actors play seventeen to mid-thirties characters. “The Vampire Diaries” is one of the best vampire shows because it naturally combines the realities of being a teenager with the complications and amazing upsides of being a vampire.

Season seven of “The Vampire Diaries” also contains several plot twists. The unexpected and sudden change in the episode is engaging and allows people to keep watching. Dries keeps the show moving by these changes and also preserves the main basis of the storyline.

Overall, season seven, episode one of “The Vampire Diaries” maintains an intricate plot and has notable actors who make the show credible and likable.

“The Vampire Diaries” can be watched on the CW Network Thursdays at 8:00 p.m.
