An anonymous bomb threat was made towards the Target on Sepulveda in Manhattan Beach on Wed.

Around 1 p.m., Target shoppers were told by the employees to evacuate the store and everyone was notified by a Nixle alert. The Nixle service allows police departments to send alerts and advisories instantly via phone and email. The Manhattan Beach Police Department went to Target to make sure all employees and shoppers were evacuated immediately.

“When we evacuated the store we were told it was because of a safety concern,” Manhattan Beach resident Emily Baker said. “I was not aware at that time that there was a bomb threat. I found out from the Nixle alert and I was surprised and very alarmed.”

There are no official MBPD statements at this time. According to Officer Martin, MBPD is trying to keep the information they release as simple and as brief as possible until they learn more about the situation.

“I was not notified how the threat was made,” said Baker. “However, I’m glad that the police weren’t allowing people to wait outside the store and had everyone evacuated safely”.
