Girls water polo sweeps Capo Valley

Mira Costa’s girls water polo team defeated Capo Valley High School 11-4 in a non-conference game on Thursday at home, with top performances by seniors utility Kaylee Brownsberger and attacker Aminadi Anorve.

The Mustangs were leading in the first half of the game 6-2. By the second half, Costa had really come into its stride and goals by Brownsberger and Anorve led the team to victory. According to Nguyen, the team’s performance was solid .

“Although we were ahead in the first half, the team wasn’t on its A game,” Nguyen said. “The second half was when the team really shined, and our performance was something to be proud of.”

The Mustangs are currently 5-5 overall. The team plays against Palos Verdes High School in a Bay League match on Jan. 5 at home. According to sophomore attacker Ella Pachler, the game should be very competitive and Costa will be prepared for the game.

“We will be practicing every day during the second week of winter break, which will make us extra prepared for the match against Palos Verdes,” Pachler said. “The team is full of skill and I am confident in our abilities.”
