Mira Costa’s boys basketball team played a doubleheader Saturday in the Torrey Pines Tournament in San Diego against Roosevelt High School defeating them 60-46 and losing against Kearny High School, 73-64.

Sophomore guard Bobby Barkley scored 23 points over the two games while his counterpart sophomore Morgan Clark scored scored 17 points over the two games. Junior guard Brandon Chan amassed seven steals and three assists over the two games. According to Barkley passing and defense was a key component in both games even though they came up just short against Kearny.

“We moved the ball well in both games and played solid defense which is what we always try to do,” Barkley said.

The Mustangs are now 7-5 and will next play McQueen High School on Monday at La Costa Canyon. According to Junior guard Ryan White the team will look for another win and more competition to improve against.

“This tournament is all about getting better,” White said. “We just need to focus on taking it game by game.”
