Mira Costa’s boys basketball team defeated Palos Verdes High School, 57-48, in an away game on Tuesday. It was the Mustang’s opener for the Bay League season.

Junior guard Ryan White scored 14 points whilst pulling down six rebounds and gaining an assist and two steals. According to White his second quarter performance allowed the team to gain momentum.

“I started to pick it up in the second quarter and my shots were falling,” White said. “This ultimately led to more players getting involved and scoring.”

Mira Costa is now 11-7 and will play Peninsula High School on Friday at home in a Bay League game. According to sophomore guard Bobby Barkley, the team will look to improve on its first game and continue to build up the its momentum before facing the very strong side of Bay League, like Inglewood, Redondo, and Morningside.

“Peninsula is good and we will have to execute every chance we get,” Barkley said. “This is also important because we need a strong record before we play teams like Redondo and Inglewood.”
