While “The Borhters Grimsby” has funny moments,  it proves to be less humorous than Sacha Baron Cohen’s previous successful films, despite possibly being the most raunchy he has ever written.

The film is overall a disaster, containing overly raunchy and vulgar humor, uninteresting action sequences, and a generic, cliche plot.

Brothers Sebastian (Mark Strong) and Nobby (Sacha Baron Cohen) live together in an orphanage until Sebastian is adopted and the two lose contact. Reunited 28 years later, a now bum Nobby must help his brother, who is on the run from his agency MI6.

While the movie attempted to be a mix between comedy and action, it struggled to excel in either category, containing generic action scenes and jokes that crossed the line far too many times, becoming a nuisance.

Additionally, the plot of the film chose to follow the cliche and uninteresting path of a framed spy who tries to clear his name and save the world. The story is bland and it is hurt even further due to the disturbing, vulgar humor present throughout the film.

Many of the action scenes are shot in the first person view of the main character of the film. While the difference in perspective was interesting, it became challenging to watch without getting a headache. In addition, this technique has been used many times before, making the films feel even more unoriginal.

Overall, the film was disappointing compared to Cohen’s previous hilarious films. In addition, the vulgarity the movie made it hard to watch, with uninteresting and brief pieces of action, further sinking the film.

“The Brother Grimsby” is rated R and playing in theaters nationwide.
