Mira Costa administration forms new time management chart

The Mira Costa administration created a new time management chart in preparation for students’ registration for the 2016-17 school year for academic and extracurricular courses.

The new chart contains a list of classes for each subject, each with its estimated number of hours of homework students should expect each night, how many nights of homework there are and how many hours total of homework in a week for that class.

“The new chart will let students and parents know if they are taking on too much or if they can take more,” Costa counselor Jennifer Wildenberg said. “The schedule is to help students see how much they are doing and if it takes up too much time.”

According to Wildenberg, administration created the new chart so students and parents could be aware of the classes and help manage the workload and time for each class. The new schedule also includes a separate worksheet that provides space for students and parents to calculate the number of hours they will be spending on academic classes, extracurriculars, as well as resting and sleeping.

“The schedule is just meant to help students get a better idea of what they are signing themselves up for,” Costa Vice President Karina Gerger said. “I hope students do take the time to fill it out because it will really benefit them and they can see what their next year will look like.”
