Boys tennis defeated Redondo in a Bay League game on Monday 17-1 in their final game before California Interscholastic Federation (CIF.)

The Mustangs set a new record for a close out match in a regular season with the most number of wins in Costa’s history. Because it was the last game of the regular season, the seniors on the team were allowed to choose their doubles partners and have fun in their matches. According to junior Bobby Sillman, the team handled their opponent very well.

“The team did well in our match against Redondo and as we closed out all of our matches quickly,” Sillman said. “Considering that Redondo’s team is not at the same level as our team, I think that we played well and made the game fun for the other team.”

Costa is currently 19-2 overall and 9-1 in Bay League and having finished their regular season, will begin to play in CIF games. According to Sillman, the team is playing well so far, but needs to stay focused in order to well in their upcoming games.

“The team needs to stay focused because we will be playing some of the best high school tennis teams from all over California,” Sillman said.
