Mira Costa’s boys beach volleyball team defeated both San Clemente and Santa Monica 2-1 on Saturday September 10, keeping its undefeated record alive. The Mustangs rallied behind junior Bobby Barkley and senior Cameron Steen who both managed to produce crucial wins against their opponents.

Steen and Barkley were able to pull out a highly contested three set match in their morning game against San Clemente. In the afternoon it was the duo of Barkley and sophomore Thomas Kretschmer winning in two quick sets. This set up Steen and his teammate junior Taylor Chaplin with an opportunity to get the win for Costa in the final match of the day.

“We played solid overall today and it was really fun,” Barkley said. “I can see us having a very good season. We have a lot of solid players and I can’t wait for us to make a run in the playoffs.”

The Mustangs are now a perfect 4-0 on the season. They play next on Saturday against Palos Verdes and Santa Monica. The Mustangs look to keep their undefeated streak going.

“I see this season going very well and I assume that our team will only get better,” said Steen.
