“I think our team played super well, we had good team chemistry and had a lot of enthusiasm from our bench,” senior Allie Navarette said.

In the first quarter the Mustangs’ energy was high, making it hard for the Patriots to score. During the second quarter, Costa continued to push the score, leaving Beckman trailing behind.

“To prepare for the next game, we are returning to practicing the basic fundamentals such as boxing out and meeting the pass, which are the little things we could work on,” freshman center Lauren Chao said.

Costa’s teamwork swept Beckman in the third and fourth quarter. The Mustangs continued to score throughout the game and eventually sealed their victory.

“Our press worked super well,” Navarette said. “We were unselfish which lead to a lot of assists and easy baskets.”

Costa’s overall record is now 4-4. The Mustangs will next play in the Segerstrom Holiday Tournament on Friday.

“We need to focus on playing the game we are good at, and continue to bond throughout the season,” Chao said.
