Mira Costa’s girls wrestling team had three girls advance to California Interscholastic Federation out of 13 girls who competed in a multi school CIF qualifier competition this Saturday at Tustin High School.  The team was led by senior Sasha Medvidovic who secured a third place finish in her weight division.

In addition to the third place finish by Medvidovic, sophomore Bianca LeBosnoyani and sophomore Alyssa Nocum finished with fifth place finishes in their weight divisions.  Medvidovic said all the girls played very well especially for being a very young team and the three girls that qualified for CIF are super excited.

“Our team is mostly made of sophomores and freshmen so it was a great learning experience for them,” Medvidovic said. “However the three girls that qualified including me are very happy and can’t wait to compete in CIF.”

The Mustangs, finished the season as a team 2-1 overall, Medvidovic, LeBosnoyani, and Nocum will compete in the first round of CIF on Friday in their given weight classes at a location that is to be determined.  Medvidovic said the girls are are stoked to be able to keep competing and they will do all they can to make sure Costa goes as far as possible in CIF.

“Us three girls know that it took a lot of work to make CIf and we are all very proud of this accomplishment,” Medvidovic said. “We are going to do whatever it takes to make sure that we go far as we can in the competition.”
