The Mira Costa boys soccer team defeated Palos Verdes high school 1-0 on Friday, Jan. 12 at Palos Verdes high school. The top performers of the match included senior goalkeeper Andrew Fasano for eight saves to shutout Palos Verdes.
A scoreless first half for both sides made for higher stakes in the second half. Fasano was able to block numerous shot from Palos Verdes in the second half while senior captain Robert Cook scored to end the match, 1-0 Costa.
“Offensively we were playing more direct getting the forwards involved for them to shoot and score goals,” Senior Sebastian Cisneros said.
The Mustangs are currently 8-2-2 overall and 2-0 in Bay League. The team will face Morningside high school on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Morningside high school.
“Defensively I think we played great in the back, clearing balls out and making sure that we all marked our man,” Cisneros said.
