“Scorched Earth” satisfies with intense action and adventure that had audiences sitting up in their seats and restless to find out what happens next.

With passionate and bone-chilling climaxes and themes of sisterhood, love, and survival, “Scorched Earth” keeps views extremely interested through most of the movie. During the drama and dialogue scenes however, the film becomes dry with repetitive moods and predictable scenes.

Directed by Peter Howitt, “Scorched Earth” takes place after the world has been destroyed by climate change and natural disasters. Hundreds of years later, a savage, fundamental group of bounty hunters bound together to search for wanted ecological criminals. The main character, Attica Gage (Gina Carano), is one of the bounty hunters who wants to take out criminals with a price on their head.

While Gage is on her mission to capture Elijah Jackson and his group of criminals, Gage meets a slave woman who reminds her of her sister who passed away. This reminder stays in Gage’s mind, making her realize life isn’t only about surviving.

“Scorched Earth” incorporates important themes throughout the movie including love, sisterhood, and survival. Love and sisterhood are themes that are very present when Gage thinks about her sister, but the desire for survival is the focus of the rest of the movie.

The heart-pounding action in the film has audiences sweating and panicking throughout the entire movie. With amazing cinematography and fierce intensity, the action scenes keep the viewer entertained throughout the film.

Although its actions scenes were exciting, “Scorched Earth” falls flat in its dialogue and drama sequences which are extremely dull and lifeless. These scenes take away from the interesting plot and overall make the movie a lot more boring.

Written by Kevin Leeson and Bobby Mort, the gripping screenplay of “Scorched Earth” is absolutely breathtaking. With stunning cliff hangers and a riveting plot, the story is wrapped up perfectly with a spectacular ending.

“Scorched Earth” features an intriguing plot that keeps the audience extremely focused. With a subtle set-back in the drama scenes, the powerful action makes up for it as scene intensifies and the film continues.

“Scorched Earth” is rated R and is playing in theaters nationwide.
