“Overboard” entertains audiences with a hysterical plot, hilarious conflicts, and romantic drama.

Directed by Rob Greenberg and produced by Pantelion Films, “Overboard” flooded theaters on May 4th, 2018. The movie features Anna Faris as Kate, Eugenio Derbez as Leonardo, and Eva Longoria as Theresa. “Overboard” is based on the 1987 film of the same name.

In the modern “Overboard,” Kate is a single mom of three who is hired to clean Mexican playboy millionaire Leonardo’s carpet on his yacht. When Leonardo falls off his boat and is found on the beach with no memory, Kate lies to him and tells him that he is her husband.

The outstanding comedy present through the film provides an upbeat mood to the plot. The hysterical jokes and puns create humor about everyday family life and the hardships of work in the movie.

As the plot thickens and the movie continues, the film gets more funny and suspenseful. When scenes get intense and Kate thinks Leonardo will find out who he really is, a subtle joke or moment breaks it completely, taking away from the more intense scenes.

The cast of “Overboard” is extremely well put together as each actor or actress embodies their role perfectly. Faris portrays Kate with her excellent line delivery to be a hardworking mother who has a great sense of humor, and Derbez plays Leonardo with great character to be a snobby, wealthy Mexican playboy.

“Overboard”’s soundtrack added pleasant hispanic culture to the film. The songs included “Internacionales” by Bomba Estéreo, “Yo Quiero” by Jacob Forever, “Poquito” by Rue Melo X ESCQ, and many more.

Romantic scenes in the film take away from all the comedy perfectly by adding feeling into what would be an emotionally dry plot. The affectionate romance between Kate and Leonardo creates a high-spirited and interesting story that adds a heart-wrenching mood of love in the movie.

“Overboard” satisfies with passionate romance and amusing comedy. The humor and hilarity throughout the movie had the audience dying of laughter.

“Overboard” is rated PG-13 and is playing in theaters nationwide.
