Girls tennis dominate Marlborough High school, Dana Hills, and Harvard-Westlake

The Mira Costa Girl’s tennis team won against Marlborough high school, Dana Hills, and Harvard Westlake on September 11th through the 13th.

The Mustangs beat Marlborough high school 12-6 on Tuesday September 11th. In singles, junior Audrey Vo and freshman Haily Hyunh each won two sets. In doubles, senior Lindsay Giese and freshman Nicole Wuelfing, seniors Kendall Lebbin and Giese, freshman Sydney Vo and sophomore Kacey Feng, junior team Olga Nagy and Peyton Douglas, and junior Sydney Miller with sophomore Hannah Bergin all won sets.

“It always feels great to win,” said senior Lindsay Giese.

Mira Costa beat Dana Hills 13-5 on Wednesday, September 12th. In singles, junior Audrey Vo, freshman Haily Hyunh, and freshman Kiki Daviduk won sets.  In doubles, senior Lindsay Giese and freshman Nicole Wuelfing, freshman Sydney Vo and sophomore Kacey Feng, and junior team Olga Nagy and Peyton Douglas won their sets.

“Our match on Wednesday against Dana Hills was a very important one because in the first CIF rankings, they were ranked higher than us. So that win was a big one because now we know our ranking will go up which is a huge deal for us. Everyone fought really hard during the long match and it paid off,” said senior Kendall Lebins.

The Mustangs beat Harvard-Westlake 15-3 on Thursday, September 13th. In singles, junior Audrey Vo, freshman Haily Hyunh, and freshman Kiki Daviduk won sets.  In doubles, senior Lindsay Giese and freshman Nicole Wuelfing, freshman Sydney Vo and sophomore Kacey Feng, and junior team Olga Nagy and Peyton Douglas won sets.

The Mustangs will next face off Palos verdes on Tuesday, September 18th.

“Though we usually lose to them, since we’ve done so well this far and have some good new players, we might have a chance at winning, said junior Amanda Miller. “If we beat them that’d give us a chance to win our league since PV usually beats us.”
