Mira Costa held its second annual Art Night on Oct. 12 outside of room 109 to showcase Costa students’ artwork.

Activities such as pin making, sidewalk chalk art, beading, t-shirt screen printing and tote bag designing were available for attendees. The purpose of this event is to connect art students with the local community, according to Costa Art Teacher Katherine Heredia.

“We host this event to celebrate and showcase the arts at Mira Costa,” Heredia said. “We want to host more events that connect students, parent and the local community.”

Art students each had their own tables to showcase their artwork and put it up for sale. The money made from the artwork is given to students and the money raised from the activities goes to the Art Booster Club.

“My goal is to help people do more than just see the art and enjoy how it looks,”  art student and sophomore Amanda Murch said. “I want the viewer to get a sense of emotion when they look at it, positive or negative.”
