Mira Costa Boys Soccer faced Long Beach Jordan at home on Tuesday December 4th. Seniors Josh Guadiano and Reed Hildyard both scored to secure a 4-0 win for the Mustangs.

In the first half, the Mustangs pressured their opponent, keeping possession almost the whole half. Towards the end of the half, Guadiano got fouled in the box resulting in a penalty kick. His shot went into the back of the net, giving Costa a 1-0 lead.

When it comes down to those moments, I just focus on the placement of the ball and nothing else,” Guadiano said.

In the second half, the Mustangs started to gain momentum. At the beginning of the half, one of Costa’s defenders hit a long ball over the other team’s defense. Guadiano ran onto it and scored his second goal of the game. Hildyard and Guadiano both scored again to finished the game 4-0.

“During the play I scored, I was running down by the byline next to the goal, and I was close enough to where I though the best decision would be to shoot at a tough angle,” Hildyard said. “I just tried to knock it past the keeper and was happy to score.”

The boys game on Thursday got postponed to a further date due to poor weather, but they are looking forward to taking on Artesia soon.

“For our next games, I am looking forward to building stronger team chemistry,” Hildyard said.  “I feel if we are able to communicate better and string more passes together, I think we would be that much better.”
