Firefighters have been fighting the California wildfires relentlessly since August, and clothing brand Legends has provided help by donating socks to the firefighters.

Founder Scott Hochstadt created Legends, which is a popular company in the South Bay and beyond because of its comfortable, stylish and versatile socks and apparel. Legends has expanded the brand nationally after sponsoring professional athletes such as Steve Nash, Matt Barnes, Kyle Harrison and Matt Rambo.

“At first in our Legends brand house, we were hosting a lot of families who had lost their homes destroyed by the fires,” Hochstadt said. “It was then when we realized the amazing jobs that the firemen were doing to help these people.”

Legends donated 500 pairs of socks to the firefighters while they battled the Woolsey fires, which began on Nov. 8 in Thousand Oaks California and Ventura County.

“We went up with our athletes to help firefighters,” Hochstadt said. “They were extremely grateful for both the socks and the opportunity to meet and be supported by the athletes.”

Hochstadt, along with help from retired NBA basketball player Matt Barnes, actor Donovan Carter and Los Angeles Fire Department Fire Captain Erick Scott, have helped firefighters and first responders improve the poor condition of their feet after fighting the fires for hours on end.

“[The firefighters] feet were blistered and getting extremely hot, so we provided our high end performance socks to the responders,” Hochstadt said. “We knew what these guys wanted andwere there to support them right away.”

As well as donating to firefighters, Legends also donated 31,758 pairs of socks to charities and underprivileged youth. For every purchase on their website, Legends sends one pair of socks to charities, such as Safe Place for Youth, which is a program that supports homeless children based out of Los Angeles.

“All of our Legends holiday sales send aside socks to give back, not only to the firemen, but also to the people who lost their homes in the Woolsey fire and the fires up north as well,” Hochstadt said.

Along with the state-of-the-art sports training facility at Mamba Sports Academy, Legends gives firefighters, first responders and volunteers complementary cryotherapy recovery suite sessions. The sessions include a two to three minute exposure time in low temperature Cryochambers. These low temperatures quickly rejuvenate the body and help the firefighters quickly get back on their feet. As Legends’s popularity continues to grow, Hochstadt continues to give back to the community through charity work.

“We are building our brand through live events at the Sports Academy,” Hochstadt said. “Also, especially with the new Mamba brand, we promote [our brand] through our athletes and social media.”
