Gucci Mane’s long awaited album “Evil Genius” is fairly disappointing due to the lack of differentiable songs along with the shortage of any hits.

This album has a few quality songs, but most of the others are boring and not easy to listen to due to the lack of any solid beats. This album is good, yet Gucci has released previous albums and mixtapes that feature much more creative and tolerable songs than this album does.

Radric Delantic Davis, also known as Gucci Mane, is a 38-year-old producer from Atlanta, which is also where he currently resides. He has released several rap classics such as “Both” and “Champions” yet this album will likely not have any songs that can be added to that list of top hits.

After his release from prison in 2016, Gucci has released several albums and mixtapes, including his hit album “Mr. Davis.” Gucci has also been featured on several notorious rappers songs as of late, including the Migos, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz.

“Evil Genius” was in production for roughly a year and when it was released, it left a lot to be desired for the listener. The long wait for the album that has very lazy and uninteresting lyrics is upsetting due to the hype that Gucci built up for the album.

Despite the album lacking any huge hits, there are some songs that have catchy beats and lyrics that allow the listener to memorize and repeat the chorus. “On God” and “Hard Feelings” are both good songs that have upbeat and energetic lyrics.

This album features many artists on songs with big names such as 21 Savage, Quavo and Lil Yachty. Most of the songs that have features are not great despite the mix up in sound due to rehearsed sounding lyrics that leave the listener wanting more from the artists.

As Gucci gets older, he needs to release more quality music with meaningful lyrics and catchy beats or he may see himself start to fall off. His sound is intriguing but this album leaves the listener with a bad taste in their mouth due to it being long awaited and being upsetting once it arrived.

“Evil Genius” was released on Dec.7 and can be purchased on iTunes for $9.99. It can also be streamed on Apple Music, Spotify, and other streaming sites.
